- Lyme disease is an illness caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted through certain ticks. Both animals, such as dogs, cats, and horses, and humans can become infected with this bacteria.
- Dogs infected with Lyme disease may show symptoms of lameness, swollen lymph nodes, joint swelling, fatigue, and loss of appetite.
