  • Francisella tularensis is a pathogenic, Gram-negative coccobacillus and an aerobic bacterium. It is the causative agent of tularemia, or rabbit fever, a disease that can infect both animals and humans. Rabbits, hares, and rodents are particularly susceptible and often experience high mortality rates during outbreaks.
